Parkinson’s disease is a neurological disorder that affects the central nervous system, which has an overwhelming impact on everyday physical movement. Treatment for Parkinson’s disease requires special training. Physical therapists must be Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery Moves (also known as PWR! Moves) certified, which means they know how to treat patients with the symptoms of Parkinson’s, such as slow movement, stiffness, and loss of balance. PWR! Moves certified physical therapists help patients during the rehabilitation process by maintaining or improving the movements that patients lose as a result of this disease. This treatment is imperative for patients so they are not weighed down in their everyday life by the physical inabilities of Parkinson’s disease. PWR! Moves also make sure patients do not become vulnerable to life-threatening conditions, which are enabled when a body suffers the physical effects of Parkinson’s.  Dr. Brianna Darneal, PT, DPT Doctor of Physical Therapy (San Luis Obispo, CA) Precision Physical Therapy and Wellness, , a premier physical therapy clinic on the Central Coast, is excited to announce the addition of Dr. Brianna Darneal to their team.
Darneal’s physical therapy expertise is in treating patients with orthopedic and neurological conditions. She is also trained in vestibular rehabilitation to help patients with dizziness, vertigo and balance impairments, in addition to being LSVT Big certified to care for patients with Parkinson’s disease. Darneal is passionate about the educational side of physical therapy and teaching patients about anatomy, movement science and treatments. She believes this education empowers patients by giving them “the tools and confidence they need in order to make a full recovery”. In 2010 Darneal received a bachelor’s degree in Film and Digital Media and Art from University of California, Santa Cruz. She went to Chapman University to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2019. When asked why she loves being a physical therapist, Darneal stated that she loves using her “skills in problem solving and movement analysis in order to get to the root of the issue and to then develop a personalized treatment plan for my patients”. She gets excited when she gets to “see a patient leave feeling less pain, more confident or more optimistic”. Precision Physical Therapy and Wellness Welcomes Physical Therapist, Dr. Heather Hamaguchi10/4/2021  Dr. Heather Hamaguchi, PT, DPT Doctor of Physical Therapy (San Luis Obispo, CA) Precision Physical Therapy and Wellness, a premier physical therapy clinic on the Central Coast, is excited to announce the addition of Dr. Heather Hamaguchi to their team.
Hamaguchi is a well-rounded physical therapist, who has completed her PWR!Moves certification, as well as her BFR and Vestibular and concussion certifications. These certifications extend well beyond the education needed to become a Physical Therapist. With this training she is now able to treat patients with Parkinson’s disease, in addition to helping those who need blood flow restriction training and vestibular rehabilitation. Hamaguchi completed her undergraduate education in 2016 at Pacific University, where she earned a bachelors of science degree in Health, Exercise, and Sports Sciences, in addition to a minor in biology. Her graduate education continued until 2019 at Azusa Pacific, where she pursued a doctorate of Physical Therapy degree. The reason Hamaguchi became a Physical Therapist was because she loves being able to help people recover in order for them to get back to doing their normal activities. She also enjoys that an opportunity for physical therapy extends to being able to meet and connect with people.
